On the standard 4.0 scale, A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B− = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C− = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D− = 0.7, and F = 0.0. Some schools use a simplified scale without plus/minus distinctions, where every A-range grade equals 4.0.

Why this table is a reference, not a rule
The percentage ranges shown match a common standard grading scale, but individual schools set their own thresholds — an A− might begin at 90% at one school and 92% at another. Always convert your percentage to a letter grade using your own school's published scale before looking up the GPA value.
Plus/minus vs. simplified GPA scales
Some colleges use only whole-letter GPA values (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0) without plus/minus distinctions, so an A− and a straight A both convert to 4.0. Check whether your institution's scale includes plus/minus GPA values before combining grades from different courses.
